After our fancy front loading digital washer and dryer died to to a power surge, I did a little research before replacing them. We bought a new Speed Queen set with manual controls. Still made 100% in the US (Wisconsin) and they weigh twice as much as comparable units made by other companies. Because all the gears and internals are steel, brass and bronze. The company says they have an average life of 25 years before needing repairs. We’ll see, but they have been trouble free for 6 years so far.

I have one (Coldspot) that's the same vintage. Only mine is a chest freezer. Never had a problem with it. Of course it's not "frost free" so every two years or so I shut it down and let all the ice on the walls melt off.
I prefer a frost free freezer, as the food in it will keep longer. It's a good idea to clean it out every couple of years anyways, you never know what you might find in the bottom. Jimmy Hoffa? :D

One suggestion I have for people buying a new freezer is to buy a "garage ready" model.

Over the past few years, me and my wife shop more thrift stores/good will stores, etc. because sometimes you can find better quality used items verses all the new junk out there today.

When my Great Uncle passed, we went over to his house because my cousins were getting rid of stuff. They had the original tupperware containers in the attic. I took all of them. Use them every week. Love it!!! It is items like that you just don't see anymore unless yard sale/thrift store, etc.

They sure don't make things like they use to.
“They” now are the Chinese and they never made them like “they used to be”…Sadly, the former “they’s” have no more manufacturing facilities anymore. If they did, our supply chain (all of them) probably wouldn’t be so screwed up !!

Bring back USA made quality products!!!

Friends of ours get a new Samsung TV as soon as the warranty runs out then they give us the old one. They told us Samsung is the best. Usually lasts us 2-4 years. I took the last one to the I stopped buying Whirlpool and the Whirlpool owned Maytags 12 years ago. They were breaking down far too often. I still have a Maytag dryer going on 27 years. Used it twice a week for 27 years. Bought a replacement Maytag dryer, and was shocked at build quality. Inferior parts, inferior design, thinner metal all around. Looks like an accounted forced the engineers to take shortcuts. I only buy Samsung and LG units now.
the place where i get my appliance parts, i always ask the techs “what do you repair the most?” They all said Samsung & LG. Just had a friend have his “high-end” LG compressor crater. Tech that came said $600-700 to fix. He said “you need a boat anchor?”. Tech replied, “too light to be a boat anchor, no”. Case closed !

My refrigerator (Frigidaire) and washer (Amana) are both less than 5 years old, and both were made in USA. I'm not sure about my Kenmore freezer, although I doubt it.

It’s not a tractor, but it’s more than worth mentioning.

I just had a 2020 almost brand new whirlpool fridge ice maker go bad…no more whirlpools ever again.

During my rant, l just learned that my 94 yr old uncle has a wedding gift that is still working. It’s a 72 yr old Sears & Roebuck Coldspot freezer that is still cranking out the cold temps. Can you believe it??? I’ve enclosed the ser & model #’s so you can look up the dates. It’s been plugged in the whole time, minus 3 move times…what a beast !!!
Of the appliances I bought when I built my house 7 years ago, the Whirlpool washing machine, oven, and dishwasher have ALL broken. They’re built in America, not so far from me, and are supposed to be a success story, but they’re PATHETIC. I think they’re cutting all kinds of corners to pay their domestic workforce.
