Wouldn't be corporate greed...or even ourselves for picking imported products off the shelf, just because they are cheaper (not better) instead of paying a little more for American made products.
Blaming the unions and people with better paying jobs is NOT the answer and is NOT the cause of our sick economy.

I saw Messicks...Messicks had nothing to do w/ my comment. Obviously you are a very wealthy man and do not make your living and feed your family w/ your equipment. Should I be under contract and a simple alternator fail and I am kicked for breech of contract the sky would be falling when I could not feed my family...OK?

I am VERY concerned...I just bought a new BX25 and they are not keeping at least 12 of every part in stock in the USA? They should have stripped one off a new unit for you, but no, YOU are inconveinced instead of them. Did I say I am VERY CONCERNED?

I would not be so concerned about a alternator failing, seems like it is not a often occurrence, but if it does fail...good luck. ;)

I enjoyed the assumptions. :)

Your Kubota BX25 alternator is the least of your worries. There are at least a hundred other more probable single points of failure in your business which will have greater impact to your ability to satisfy a given contract. Your health, for example. That said, mechanical and electrical failures happen, there is no equipment manufacturer which can guarantee otherwise. Plan for it. Moreover, supply chain disruptions happen, for many reasons. Plan for it.

If absolute, perfect, 100%, 24x7x365 business continuity is required, then plan for these and other failures.

ps, around here at least...
You can rent a back-up BX25 for US$180/day, dropped in your driveway by 8am and picked up again at 5pm. Longer term rates are less.

Yes, you're correct . I am in canada. What is ironic about that?
I buy canadian when the option exists, when not, then i buy american, which is most often the case.
Even the snow tires i bought last week are made in the usa. I made sure they dont come from china!
Canadas economy is linked to the american economy. Ironic as it is.....
Even i buy american products. (quincy compressor/ harley davison/ lincoln mkx....all within the last 6 month) Instead of imported stuff.
We have unions here too. All teachers/cops/firefighters/and a good many trades people belong to them too. I know, in some peoples mind, it's there fault too....
Instead of pointing a finger at other workers and laying blame on them for Americas financial problems, one could use it by doing some online research.

Re" Canada---had a GMC rental this week, lots of people buy GM "cause its made in America". This GMC, a Terrain, was made in Canada. I have no problem with that, I've personally owned several "American Made" vehicles that turned out to be built in Canada and even a Japanese vehicle (Honda) that was built there:)

Back on topic:p I'm thinking a Kubota diesel uses very little 12v power to run, I bet in a pinch you could get a days work out of one just by recharging the battery at night. Start it once and leave it run all day:thumbsup:

Yup, that's what I mentioned to, it'll get you by in a pinch, no need to run all day, you will get several starts from a full battery.

But that's assuming that his only problem is that the alty is not charging, if it's a complex issue with a short or open etc. it might not work.
With the modern machine it might not start/run if you disconnect the alt.

Uhhhhhh

Cost of labor drove most manufacturing out of the USA. The UAW did a nice hatchet job on the big three and now there is no more big three. This does not have much to do with alternator inventory . I'm sure domestic tractor dealers don't have everything in stock.

I don't know about the BXs but my Allis Chalmers 5040 (American tractor made in Romania back in the 1970s) alternator went out several years ago. I didn't have the time to get it fixed right then. I just hooked it up to a battery charger. That worked so well that depending on how much I use the tractor I just charge the battery every few weeks. Not too inconvenient and has done me well for years. Our BX 23 is a lot more complicated tractor. I would be curious to know it this would work on it should the need arise.
