Tires Thorn trees and Tires?

/ Thorn trees and Tires? #21
I purchased fronts for my 4610 SU couple years ago from Gensco. They are 18 ply. I bought rims with the tires mounted. Shipped to my Fed Ex in Hickory. Every time I went to brush hog I always flatted a front. Have not had an issue since. I am a happy customer.

I've got plugged rears on the Ford now and I am getting by until I can get new ones. They have 14 and 20 ply in AG tread for the rears.

The fronts cost around $550 shipped with new rims. That is not inexpensive but I am more than happy with my purchase. I will be getting rears from them in the future.

Those are the ones I had seen advertised. Look like good stuff.

How well do the R4 tires hold up to thorn trees?

A friend on mine has a Ford 3000 (2wd, Gas) and just put new tires on the front of his tractor. Both tires were flat after one day because of thorn trees. He had them filled with foam and they've been fine since.

I'll soon be purchasing my tractor and I am wondering what I should do. It will be a Kubota L3830, w/FEL, R4 tires, and will be 4wd. I plan on having fluid put in the rear tires and don't know what to do about the front ones. Should I have foam put in them, fluid, or nothing? Should I even have some in them with the FEL?

My thorn tree problem is very mild right now, but the potential is there for issues.

Thanks,
Dave

Some Highway depts in OK use old 10-ply R tires from HD trucks on the front on 2-wheel drive tractors. Thorns cannot go through the steel belts and 10 plys. No suggestions for the rear tires.
