Thoughts on Chevy Colorado or Ford Ranger

Which engine were you looking at? Back when you bought the Ranger, GM had the 3.6L v6 in the Colorado and it had 310HP....about 40 more than the Ranger. Now the turbo 2.7L engines can have even more HP and way more torque.

This was the engine options in 2018 for the colorado that I can find.

The GM 1/2 ton 1500 with the 3L Duramax looks really nice
310HP and torque down low.

My dad had a first year gen 3 Colorado 4x4 with the 3.6L v6. I drove it enough to know that I REALLY liked how it drove. Very nice power, steering, quiet, etc. and I would have bought one except I need a full size 8ft box. Otherwise, I would buy one in a heart beat. Now the Colorado has the 2.7L turbo with at least 3 tunes and the top one has something like 430 ft lbs torque. How does the Colorado compare with the Ranger in 2023? Don't know. I had plenty of the S10 and Ranger trucks before they gained weight and I've always liked them for daily use.

are you planning to tow a trailer? I have seen several videos of Colorados towing having the frame bent . This is 1 of them I have seen.

With that in mind, either would be a great option. Test drive both, see which one speaks most to you, which one is the most comfortable. If they're too close? Play the dealers off of one another!

Good points. Too many of us 'fall in love' with a vehicle and make the dealer's job too easy. Being able to happily walk away from a deal and take the other truck will make negotiations easier...or at least more fruitful.

Holy ****.

There is a Jeep Gladiator in the video as well that the frame is bent on. My thoughts are.. Buy a weinie truck, don't expect it to emulate a large one with a real frame. It could be straightened but would entail some serious jack.
