Thoughts on John Deere X749

Maybe 2 wheel steering is adequete, but one wheel steering is more maneuverable. Ever seen the Gravely or Scag three wheel out front mowers, the ones where your sitting over a single rear wheel and you steer with a yoke? 4 WS is way better than either and more fun too.

Just reading the amount of hours LB put on each machine annually and thought that it seems it would have been more finacially wise to have rented a tractor for a few days then to go buy three of them, or just smartened up and bought a Deere X749 .

This seems to be the root of all the argument. The discussion has evolved into it being all about who is the most financially wise or thrifty or such rather than about the tractors and performance for which the question was asked. If LB and every one else could provide discussion without interjecting or alluding to $$, then perhaps there would be little to argue about...

I retract the above... I just realized that this was in the Buying/Pricing forum...

Once again I apologize for hitting a nerve on so many people. I really am sorry for that. Deep down I really do believe every tractor that is built, is built for a task/need. In which everyones tasks are different with very different scenarios. On top of that, you have to add comfort, user controls, overall need, and finally how much you want to spend or can afford.
I also believe there is no useless tractor. After all, manufacturers are out to make money. Just like everyone else. If there would be no demand, the production of that tractor would be a waste of money. In that case the manufacture would not make this product. There must have been some feedback from dealers, owners, or operators that made them decide to go ahead and design, make prototype, and produce a x749. Who knows maybe I am wrong and they will stop production of the x749 and her little sister x729 after this year. It could happen, maybe after this year they will see they didn't sell enough of the tractors to keep production. However if they do keep production that would mean there is a demand for the x749 and they they will to continue.
Just my perspective of how I think the world works.
Thanks for reading and have a good day!!

For all that X749 bashing, you are literally its target market. :)
No body's bashing the x749.
I'm just showing other ways to do something or other things to consider.
Some times the x749 may be the way to go.
Other times it's not.
Peoples needs wants desires and circumstances are different
so perhaps too the solutions are not the same .

Dude,

No apology necessary. Congratulations! Here are some more pictures of an X749 in use. Sorry, no cab or other stuff. The AWD is great on the slopes. The AWS Handling is superb!
