It's too bad were scattered out. It would be good to have a GTG or Get To Geather. Usually there is a host or group that has a place that the GTG happen. Usually you hang out and eat and play with the subject of interest. If we could have a place we could bring and test tractors. Try different size I'm plenty out for the folks that ask we could have real world tests or if someone was there and wanted to know how their 1500 may pull a 5ft box or a 5ft bushog etc.
I'd love to pull a bottom plow since I haven't done it, and have not found a good price on one.

Biggest thing is to hang out, eat and talk to each other.

I have owned a 336d since the late 80s. Solid enough tractor.

The old farmer was willing to think about selling his tractor more than actually willing to sell the tractor and farm. He's more of a theorist in regards to that endeavor. Anyway, after a lot of reading, I went back to the US models and was looking for a Yanmar 276D or a Yanmar 336D. Consequently, I found a Yanmar YM276D that can occupy the garage for a while. She's not the beauty like the YM147 and has seen a few days in the sun.

On a side-note, some fellow wants $16,500 for a "museum quality" 336D with "low" hours and a surprising number of after-market parts for a 200 hour tractor. That added a bit of humor to the quest.

Yes, that would be Marc. He has been advertising for several years at a high price but he has come down quite a bit on the price, and somebody ought to jump on it.... or maybe soneone already has. I think that compared with new tractors today, his is every bit as good and a far better deal for the dollar than a new anything. The YM336D is a classic. Someone is going to get lucky there.

I sure would like a new tractor. But,, I was at a guy's farm the other day that had a new Case. He had a mechanic from the dealership there working on it because it threw a code and shut the tractor down. Mechanic said the code isn't even in his service manual. He said the called someone at case and they told him there is no such code. The guy has a 80K tractor sitting there because it's giving a code (the factory says doesn't exist) shutting the tractor down.

Guess I'll keep my little yanmar with Oil, Temp. lights ! LOL

Threw a code? What's that? Is it like the Temp light coming on? Did they figure out what caused it?

:)

I once saw similar on a better-than-new-looking gorgeous Iseki at the VN 'refurb' import wholesaler. The owner was there, he said now 30 days total frustration while he and the shop's mechanic tried to get the electronic 3-point controls to do something. Anything. Without manuals. With only a test light for 'diagnostic tools'. I wished him luck.

this was last week. The mechanic said he changed a filter somewhere (wasn't engine air filter) and the code light went off. He told the guy to try it out and see if would stay running, and that he was going back to the shop and try to find out what the code meant. I don't see how there is a code that no one knows about. I mean, someone has to program these things, don't they ?

I have logger that have skidders that just go into limp mode and give a code on the dash. (and this was on like a 5 to 8 year old skidder) They call the shop manager/mechanic down at the JD dealership and he says the same thing, that code doesn't exist??? Well if a computer is only as smart as what its programmed to do how does it have a code for something that does not exist, let alone give it????

I can see they have codes built into the system for future expansion of that tractor or multiple uses of that computer programmed in different tractors but again, if the application its in does not use that code how can the paramaters to throw that code be met let alone allow it to throw it?

I replied to your previous post before reading all the others. Were thinking along the same lines!! We must just be to simple to understand these complicated things I guess??

It seems perfectly logical that a problem without a solution would associate with a code without meaning...
