Blue loctite is for threaded FASTENERS, not pipe joints. I'm sure Loctite has a product that is meant for sealing pipe joints containing gasoline.

If you look at the product data sheets under product specs is shows on the Loctite page it will tell you that 242 has 95% adhesion strength after 1000 hours for unleaded gasView attachment 580243

That sounds OK until you look at it the other way: It looses 5% of it's adhesion strength after only 1.5 months of exposure to unleaded gas.

I was a pipefitter in a factory and if I want joints to leak, i would use something other than Loctite 242. Don't get me wrong, I used Teflon paste and sometimes tape, but a majority of the time I tried to use 242 because I didn't want to redo joints. I worked on HP grease, paint, air, water and almost anything else.
