I am not sure if this is whaere this goes or not, but here it goes.

I think that a lot of people here lose sight of the purpose of this site. A lot of threads are "Pirated" or "Stolen" as an idea comes to a readers head, rather than starting a new thread, they add their questions on to the current thread.

I am not on a high horse here. I have caught myself doing it. I just get frustrated when I am interested when I am reading something that is interesting to me then "Wham" we are on a tangent.

I will get off my soap box now.

Yup Lonnie, I guess most of us have been guilty of this at one time or another. I certainly know that I have! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

But I guess the way I see it is this. It's kind of like a bunch of fellows sitting around chatting with a few "favorite beverages" in their hands. How many different topics get talked about even though the first topic to start the conversation was totally different? It's a natural progression of "conversation".

One person says something that triggers a thought in someone else, who mentions it and then that triggers a thought in someone else again, and so on.

So yes, I agree with you. But I see it as a natural progression of the dialogue. And it seems that fortunately, at least most of the time anyway, when it starts to get a little out of hand, one of our members makes a comment about getting back to topic, and things seem to track back to where it belongs.

Do you see any other way of handling it? Please make a recommendation if you do. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I just needed to vent, and I do understand the dialogue aspect of this site. I just think of the site a little more formal as if in a seminar or a corporate meeting where when a discussion is pirated it would be considered not proper.

I have been off for a couple of days and as I was catching up, the first two threads went "haywire."

I love the forum and the info here, just hoped to get the thought out there maybe enough people will read it and it will be in their minds for a while so that we may be able to avoid "piracy" for a while.

I know I have never done it. No sir. Not me. By the way, I have my custom pallet forks almost done, wanna see pictures? I plan on using them Thanksgiving day to move some concrete planters off a trailer. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Speaking of Pirated, how about those....

And that's how it goes. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I think Golfgar4 made some excellent points. I tend to think of it as conversation at the morning diner, coffee shop or around the pickle barrel at the general store.

Sometimes it does get a little frustrating when you are on a hot topic and it goes off base for a while, but it usually comes back. If it doesn't, and you still have a question or something to add, just pop it in there in a reply to the person you are interested in speaking with. That'll bring it back on topic most times.

Lonnie
I believe you, Garry, Bob and others are all right. This may be one of the reasons that TBN is the place that it is.
Enjoy the forum and I will try not to Pirate one of your threads. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
