Three Point Hitch Depth Control

I recently purchase a 2025 BX2380 with rim guard weighted rear tires and a front end loader. I'm researching additional rear ballast options and contemplating purchasing a box blade for both grading and ballast. I have experience operating a three point hitch positioning valve but no experience with a 1/4 inching valve. My research says the 1/4 inching valve, after setting implement depth, will slowly bleed off when using heavy implements. This results in the box blade slowly drifting lower during operation and this makes box blade grading a real challenge. Question: Will closing the three point hitch speed control valve, located beneath the seat, rectify this problem?

As long as the seals in the 3 pt hitch cylinder are good, yes, closing the flow control valve with kept it from dropping at all. It should still let it raise at full speed.

It's one of those things that you'll only know after use. It might leak down a lot or not even be noticeable during use.

Thanks for the reply. This is a brand new tractor so there should be no problem with a leaking seal. That's exactly what I was thinking. I assumed the speed control knob closes a hydraulic fluid return valve and locks the implement from lowering further.

I have a 400+ lb winch on the 3 point hitch and it will remain in whatever position I left it in for weeks. I've used other tractors that do drop down.

Thanks for the reply. This is a brand new tractor so there should be no problem with a leaking seal. That's exactly what I was thinking. I assumed the speed control knob closes a hydraulic fluid return valve and locks the implement from lowering further.

"Should". I fought leak down on all 3 remotes on my L4060 from day 1. The dealer replaced several & finally put a DPCV on one to mitigate it. Granted that was valve leakage, but you can't be guaranteed of 0 leak down on hydraulics. Closing the 3pt knob should take care of things though.

With 1,100 hours on my L4060 & a heavy flail mower in the 3pt I notice the 3pt raise up 1/4" or so every 20-30 minutes if the machine is idling. Presumably it's sagging that much in the same time, but that's less noticable than it bumping it back up to set height

Kubotas are notorious for remote leak down.

Amazing that Kubota has not yet addrerssed this.
