I have little experience with 3pt hitches. The old equipment we have doesnt have them. But I have towed extremely heavy loads mostly in offroad conditions over stumps, swamp and mud. My question is, on good solid, fairly level ground, how much concern should I have for a loaded trailer to push the 3pt up into the back of the tractor should you come to a stop a little quick or the load jerks behind the tractor?. What is out there to keep this from happening.
I would say error on the side of caution, over do safety, if in doubt don't, the start of this thread for me was to see what if anything was out there for shunting a 5er trailer around my yard! Most repies have been of the opinion of using a legitimate hitch attached to a frame rated for your trailer weight and conditions. Hope this helps.
