Throttle on 4310

My 4310 will not maintain a throttle position. If I am mowing the throttle will creep down steadily from about 2200rpm to 1500 rpm. Most annoying as I had to hold the throttle to maintain engine and RFM rpm. I only have 26 hours. Call the dealer or try to fix myself? Any thoughts? Thanks.

If the 4310 is like my 4300, and I suspect that it is, you can increase the friction which holds the throtte in position by tightening the pivot bolt on the throttle lever. The pivot is down inside the dash and can be reached from above if you have some long skinny flat wrenches to get on the bolt. If not, that removing the screws that hold the dash cover in place will allow you to move the dash far enough out of the way to get on the bolt with normal size flat wrenches. Hope this helps.

You can remove the 4 screws holding your dash then remove 4 screws and 2 bolts(pay attention to the screw lengths they are different) holding the fuse panel door and then you can pull the panel where your key goes, this will let you get to the bolts to tighten the trottle not real easy but doable. You can't just tighten the nut you have to use a backup to tighten. I have done this three or four different times so the last time I used blue loc-tite on it and that seems to be working. Hope this helps. I may be mistaken on the number of screws but it is easy to see when you start looking.
