Hi folks,

I have a Kabota B2150 HST. The hand throttle, which has been stiff for some time, will not rotate to allow me to set an engine speed. It is stuck at idle although I can reach down and hand operate the linkage that goes to the engine. The linkage system looks very simple with a rod from the hand throttle that rotates and pushes the linkage that goes to the engine. The hand throttle rod passes through a gray box under the steering column that is also linked up to what someone told me is a cruise control like gadget for mowing (?) I don't want to break anything by forcing the throttle handle. Could someone please explain this sytem to me and possibly tell me how to get the throttle working again?
BTW the tractor recently sat out in the rain for about a week when the tarp blew off.

Thanks in advance,

Howard

HMS,

My initial response may not be very good, but I'll try as best that I can. I have a B2150HSD but it is currently out at my property such that I can't look at it right now.

The B2150 speed control should disengage when the brake is applied, so that if you've been setting the parking brake then the speed control mechanism should not be interfering with the throttle.

On my older B7100 the throttle was rather stiff, like you describe on your B2150. I finally got around to spraying some "PB Blaster" brand lubricant on the shaft that the throttle lever moves on, and after working it a few times, the throttle became really easy to move.

If the trottle linkage beyond the throttle lever works normally, it seems that the problem is with the throttle lever only.

Hopefully this helps,
Kelvin

There is a friction type adjustment on the handle portion of the throttle. This is to keep vibration from causing the engine speed to change when you are using the backhoe and are sitting where you can easily correct it. Check with your dealer's mechanic. This is set when the dealer does the original assembly after he receives the tractor and you should be able to adjust it as loose as you can live with. I have mine set so it is easy to move, too hard to bump and change accidentlly, and stays where it's put...

Hope this helps,
Dave

HMS,
I just looked at the hand throttle on my 2150hst and it terminates inside what I think is the gray box you refer to. At this point of termination is a tension spring that you may want to try spraying with wd40, as well as just spraying the entire throttle rod. The throttle is not connected to the speed control (my speed control did freeze up such that the on/off lever would not move- wd40 did fix it) so you shouldn't have to worry about anything there.
The right angle rod that comes off the throttle rod and hits the throttle lever moves about 1/4" prior to hitting the throttle lever. do you get at least this motion?
