If you do straight linkage only thing to fabricate is the base cyl mount which is easy with the tools you have.

For you is easy . . . to misquote Senor Wences . . .

Actually, I may have a metal working lathe. Long story of hand me downs, but I think I have it stored in the barn. Haven't thought about it in a while.

If you had to do it over again, would you weld it on instead of using all those bolts? Or some similar load spreading deal?

I would do the same. The girdle is kinda ugly but it cannot bend the stick, loosen or shift anywhere. At the time there was a thread or two about guys bending their sticks with weld on thumbs. I decided to be super cautious. Maybe a long (12-14") doubler plate welded to the bottom of the stick and under the cyl mount would work fine though.
