Dan you beat me to saying get a TICK KEY, it was a 1.50 at an outdoor store and you just slip it right over the tick. great device, its on every one of my key chains.

I looked for them on the internet and they've quadrupled in price. I imagine the ones now are made of platinum.

I must have gotten it when it first came out, I bought mine from rock and snow in New Paltz NY.

Question: I used my key to pull a tick on my dog a week ago, and did not get the head. What should I do? I put some ointment over it as I don't want it to fester.

Pretty much they will say put neosporin on it, the head will come out eventually. I would just keep an eye on it so that if it does get infected you can take it to the vet.

Without the stomach parts, the head is no more dangerous than a splinter I would think. I'd try to extract it with high end tweezers.

Just found a tick on one of the dogs. It is Dec 18th for heaven sakes! The weather has been mild, but we have had some pretty hard frosts and there is snow on the ground as we speak. Maybe the tick is evolving into a year-round menace. Great:(.

Just this morning a took a tick off my Dog's neck...I agree...December and we still have ticks...geeez..

Those small ticks, I think they're ''deer ticks'' are a year round pest here, I have picked them off my dogs all year long and even when tem is 20* outside. I don't understand it either.

Vandenberg AFB, 55 mi. up the coast from Santa Barbara California: Every time we went hunting we'd do a tick check of each other and pull about 20 off our clothes. But I never had one bite.

Oregon, Montana working in the woods since 1975, never had a tick and never had one on our dog. I know they are out there somewhere, just waiting, lusting for my blood but so far, so good.

And since we moved onto our 10 acres 19 years ago, I haven't seen any mosquitoes either.

Yellow jackets, well, that's another story.

Deer Ticks are still here..the wasps and yellow jackets are gone for a spell. Sometimes they re-appear in a couple warm days? I hope, not this year, as I am going to take the covering off my front porch and remove the collosal size nest, I will take pictures?
