We had a one legged turkey out back, so I started feeding it. When she would come eat, she invited her friends, who invited the squirrels, who invited the deer. We have deer and turkeys that will come towards you when you go outside, looking for a hand-out. I was concerned that bringing this many deer that close to the house would create issues with ticks, but we have not had any issues.
My thoughts are that the turkeys tend to eat the ticks that the deer bring to us.
