Tightening bolts and greasing

From a repair stand point that I have seen. If the bolt, nut, washer or washers etc were matched properly to do what it is being ask to do [hold]. And it was tighten properly.... who ever tighten it.... it stayed tight. Hard work plays a factor and will no doubt test tight. and quality control really helps tight.

As far a pumping grease.....when it is time for a lube job. I pump till I see clean grease if the pivot is not covered by a boot.

I'm surprised no one mentioned using "Loctite (lock tight)." Commonly used by bikers to assure bolts don't come off when you're blasting down the highway. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have seen Loctite [thread locker] on a LOT of things from A-Z. I have read in instruction that I was told to apply a thread locker ......... from a dealer install component, replacement, up grade and Aftermarket components. And sometimes cause I wonted to just increase my odds that it would stay tight.

I agree, Jerry. Factories have inspectors to check for loose bolts, etc. I worked for 33 years for a cash register company and spent about 20 years overhauling cash registers. A couple of service managers insisted that, before the cabinets went back on, we had to have another mechanic check over our machines for loose screws, bolts, missing parts, etc.
That seemed to work out pretty well.

I learned of Loctite years ago when I owned a Harley. Every time I rode it I had to take inventory when I got home of what fell off.

i have never found a loose nut or bolt on my tractor, check it once a year, and so far nothing. it is something i do not worry about, probably more loose nut and bolts on my cars than on my tractors /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Lost one rather large metric bolt that was part of the FEL mounting system. However the FEL was added at the dealer not installed by New Holland.

I've seen the thread on making sure that you tighten bolts and grease more often on a particular brand tractor.

one of the minor dealers near me is a "garden center" another minor brand dealer branched into tractors from selling lawn mowers & garden tractors. 

Quit beating around the bush and say what brands these are. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I promise I won't be hurt. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The JD and Kubota dealers that I deliver to also do landscaping. Does that count as a "garden center"? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Both dealers have plenty of plants to buy also. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
