I like that idea! One side or the other would always have a little slack making it easy to pull the pin on that side.

This could be a good alternative to a quick hitch.

Re sway chains.
To use a bush hog there should not be too much sway under normal conditions. Agreed.
But I have found that when bush hogging along roadways, fences and ditches that it is a big help to loosen one side so that there is considerable movement to that side. Then use that side to trim closer along the ditch bank or whatever . Also the torque on the lateral movement of the cutter will tend to keep it pushed to one side, this makes it move that way even when you are on level ground. I especially like the bush hog to swing out when I am trimming along tree lines around fields, it enables me to trim under limbs better.
