tiller leaking gear oil

/ tiller leaking gear oil #11
I have the same problem. I had a small leak. I wanted to be sure I had enough oil. Checked the manual which states fill the reservoir to just below the fill cap which I did. Now have a big leak. So I'm intrigued by the last comment that as long as there is some in the bottom, the chain will pick it up. Not much chance I'll do the "winter project" noted above.

Okay, I'm not a expert on anything, but, I see some of the guys recommending corn head grease for some of the rotary cutter gear boxes, would the corn head grease be appropriate for the tiller drive cases? bjr

My tiller has done the same and I probably filed it to much. It does seemed to have slowed though probably due to less oil. Was thinking about the heavier oil. It does have some in it so I will mo it or usage and see were that goes
