Tiller Tiller Oil Change - Confused - GTC 52-2 - BX24

Why change the oil at all? It is not like it is motor oil that is exposed to high heat and it basically just lubes large gears so there is nothing delicate or precision engineered in there. Draining the oil will not remove any metal filings etc nor will it remove the goop unless you flush it out with diesel three or four times. Quite a task. I'd treat it like a bush hog gearbox....who in their right mind does anything other than make sure there is enough oil in those things? I'm sure there are many that are twenty five years old and going strong without an oil change.
