</font><font color="blue" class="small">( The 1300 is 53" wide
the 1400 is 57" wide
Ern. )</font>

The number are the width in mm. 1300 = 51.18" 1400 = 55.12"

Add a couple inches for drive and support outboard of the tines and I bet you end up with Ernie's numbers.

I love the tiller I got from Ernie, runs a smooth as a baby's bottom. When engauged I have to turn around and look to make sure it is turning. Only had it since fall and have only used it a couple times but I'll second Mark's comments on quality of turned soil. My ground was wet but still left the soil all fluffed up and no clumps.

How important is it to get the back wheels and that two-piece upper link with a used Yanmar tiller? I've noticed these parts are sometimes missing from tillers offered for sale.

I think that it's important to get everything with the tiller. I rarely use the wheels because I till forwards and reverse, but the wheels are very handy to have when you detach and park the tiller.

Without the 2 peice upper link, the tines may hit the tractor tires. The link curls the tiller up rather than lifts it.

Ernie's right(I didnt doubt it a bit), my 1400 is right at 57" inside the gearboxes. Nearly 5' outside them. This is just right to cover the tracks of the tractor.

Attached is a pic of the setup with wheels and top link..

Another of the rear wheels. I like them because I can set the depth with the wheels and drop the hitch all the way. This was I can set my max depth without worrying about the hydraulics. Plus the wheels make guide rows, a little too deep to plant but it gives you an idea of where you have been..

I just tilled some sawdust, lime and fertilizer into the garden this afternoon and thought I'd add a couple pics of how it came out.

This gives you an idea how fluffed it is, I stuck my hand straight down with little effort. It sunk about 4-5". Not too bad, 20min on last years garden bed (maybe 30'x70')
