Looking at the pics, did you flip it with a turning plow first? Then till?

For my money, a plow and a disk are perfect for anything bigger than an acre, and probably cost less together than a good tiller.
The rocks were I live would kill a tiller. Pretty rough on the plow and disk too.

The spot that I tilled I did not plow over first. I did plow some ground but it is just to wet to go through with the tiller or even a disk for that. I made one pass through the plow stuff and got out of there fast, i was sinking to the axle. Yes I agree that a plow and a set of disks would be much better at anything over a couple acres and I do plan on getting a set of disks hopefully by next year, but I have a couple small gardens of my own and a bunch now that my neighbors and rest of my family would like tilled which is much eaiser with a tiller than a plow and disk. But this year I think the tiller will pay for itself quickly. Even with all the little rocks and some big ones the tiller either kicks them up to the top quickly or burries them deep enough that you don't even worry about them. After one pass I will pick most big rocks and till it agian just before planting.RobJ said:Looking at the pics, did you flip it with a turning plow first? Then till?
