Tiller Tillers.. Which is better?

I have one of the $1000 King Kutter tillers and it did come with a slip clutch !!

I have a Woods brand tiller, and it is very high quality. I bought used because I was able to get it at a good price. I have several Landpride 3 pt implements. I am extremely impressed with the Landpride quality. The KK gear drives are also a heck of a piece of equipment for the $. My primary advice boils down to 2 things. 1) Get the right size tiller for your tractor (usually just wide enough to span the width of your rear wheels), and 2) buy a brand that has a good US distribution / dealer network so that future parts will be available. Otherwise, you can't really go wrong. All of these tillers are very simple and reliable implements.

The NH is made by Maletti and is the same as Woods, Kubota & Bush Hog.
Now I know who made my tiller.
I've got a 74" Bush hog too, good tiller.
I had mine on a L2900 Kubota and now use it on the 35D.
I paid a little over $1500 for it last spring.

Hi Mark,
Should I store my driveline, including the slip clutch, in the garage to keep moisture out during times when it is not in use? Not a really difficult task and if it keeps the clutch operating better, done deal.
(This question should prove how mechanically challenged I am… )

It will certainly help to keep down the rust, but it won't substitute for slipping it periodically. At the very least, do it before starting in the spring, but if you leave it sit for any length of time, inside or out, it certainly won't hurt to do it again. For example, I do a lot of tilling over the course of the spring, but then it sits until early fall. I slip it again before starting back up with it in the fall. I've only had it one full season, but so far, so good.

Always glad to stand corrected! You hear lots of good reports about those tillers here. At the price they are also a great bargain.

We think our KK60 is very good for the price and holds up well, even with the rocks we sometimes find.

Looking at these two brands due to 2 dealers that are close that they carry.

Definetly wanting a slip clutch for this attachment. Although this area has been used for a garden many years ago. We will be making new flower beds etc. with new attachment.

From one (expatriate) Buckeye to another... welcome to TBN... lots of info about tractoring and rural life in general!

It does seem like there are lots of orange tillers out there for sale. My local John Deere dealer even has several of them on display behind his green tractors, although I haven't stopped in to see what manufacturer they came from.

But it doesn't take orange paint to make a good quality tiller! Other companies (Landpride, BushHog, etc.), also make good equipment in their own colors.
