Bird - Quite a few, to be sure! And I haven't heard any complaints yet, either. A very useful item!

Mark,
Your beeper model should be there any day now! It was mailed Friday (July 7). We have played with a lot of options on this model, and we're anxious to have your feedback! Thanks for your support. And the sales pitching! :)

Rick - Thanks! I'll post my comments here. A friend of mine and I finished the overhead console that it's going in today. But the details of that are going in the 'L4310HST enhancements' thread in the 'Kubota Owning' topic, later today, hopefully.

Hi,Mark and anybody else that has bought a tilt-meter.
I looked at the R&B web site meters and am wondering which one of these to get. I think, I am down to a choice between the models 25 (0 to 25deg.) or 51(0 to 50deg.). The 25 does one angle only (sideways for me) and the 51 has two meters one front to back and the other side to side. Any advice anybody has on these meters will help.
regards,
george

George - I'm using the #7489, but I'm waiting for the #7490. They're the same model, except the 7490 has the beeper warning. I haven't tried the others, but this one works great.

I, too, have the 7489C (side to side only), but I quickly found that on my little tractor I do not want to be on it if it's on a 20 degree or more slope. I think it would survive a 20 degree tilt without rolling over, but not with me on it. About 18 degrees is the steepest I've been on and don't like to be on 15 degrees. In other words, I think a tiltmeter that registers up to 25 degrees is more than enough.

Call or email Rick at R&B Mfg. Before I bought mine I sent Tiltmeter and email and Rick called me to discuss the situation. He was very helpful and glad to know that many of the TractorByNet users are using his products.

Mark, Bird and Rick, Tiltmeter makes a model 50 meter that reads both fore and aft as well as side side. There have been times when going nose down a hill I have wondered whether the hill was ok to traverse across sideways. With only a side to side meter, it looks like one would have to at least start to go sideways to get a fix on the hill angle. This seems like a hairy way to find out whether the hills angle is within the 15 deg. range often quoted as a safe max. Would a fore and aft meter, used in a nose down probe test, give an accurate indication of hill angle? If angle of hill, nose down test, is beyond 15 deg, no point in trying the sideways on the hill maneuver. Not yet having got meter, I have no clue as to the above babble makes any sense. What do you guys think.
By the way, do you feel that the 0 to 25 expanded scale meter, although not color coded, makes more sense in an application where 15 deg is considered max safe sideways angle.
It seems that they only way bubble will ever get to numbers 25 to 50 is when the tractor is already on it's way to a tip.
What do you think??
thanks again,
george

Your fore/aft question makes sense to me. (I have the 0-25 deg model for the exact reason you mentioned. more than 25deg and I'm either close to or rolling over so I couldn't see why I needed a 50 deg range) I don't know where you got the 15deg mark but thats pretty conservative. I can go to 20deg fairly safely since I moved my tires to max width. Trick is to go VERY slow when on steep angles, loader LOW to ground. That way if you start to hit a rock, rut, hole, etc that is going to change the angle quickly you have time to react, stop and back up. I have a 20+deg slope I have to mow regularly and I do it with no problem, just very slowly.
