timber ax

I have a 2007 timber ax. I am seriously considering selling it. and buying something different. I just finished a 3 acre clearing job. mostly pines in the 6-8 inch range. It seemed to struggle a bit. Maybe it was my technique. Im not sure. I was just a little disappointed.

I used to run an ASV RC100 with Loftness Timberax on a daily basis...I am no longer invloved in the Clearing business but am working as a sales associate for DENIS CIMAF...I know what you mean about the Timberax..it is great in small vegetation up to about 2-3inches but the productivity drops off dramatically in brush any bigger...

Id guess you need more HP. I used the 140HP supertrak, it went thru about anything. ive also used 90hp machines that struggled at 4 or so inches

You might want to make sure the Hydraulic output is high enough to operate the timber ax. I run a Fecon cutting head and was having trouble, come to find out it was my machine. It wasnt putting out factory specs.

I run loftness heads now....and rand the timber axe for a little while. It can be hard to mnage, but it does a good clean up job. The quickaxe however, runs the same direction as a carbide cutter, and is MUCH more efficient than
the timber axe.
Still not as fast as a Cimaf, but $10,000 less (Sorry Robbie). I love my quickaxe, and its the only reason that i am still in business. With the economy
the way it is, i needed to drop my price per acre. With this head, i can do much more work per day than before.
