Thanks everyone. We are really pleased with the way everything is coming together.

I'm just in awe of your ceilings. Those big beams with the T&G wood just looks amazing!!!!!! You have the WOW factor there for sure :)

How thick are your exterior walls? Your kitchen window picture makes it look like it's a foot thick.

Eddie

Eddy the window you are looking at is a bumpout on the exterior for looks only. All other exterior walls are only 2x4 construction. We used closed cell which gave us close to an R24 wall so we didn't see the need for 2x6 construction.

looks really great. What size are most of your posts?

Most posts are 8x10 with a few 8x8 and a few 8x12.

Emanaresi you are started!

JK what was your timeline from joint cutting to standing frame? In our case it was ~ 8 weeks but that included 2-3 weeks of delays due to weather at the site.
Our Joint layout/cutting to occupancy permit was 11 months.

Looking back at past emails I think they started cutting around July 22nd. We stood the frame Sept. 10th so about 7-8 weeks depending on their actual start date. I'm hoping to be moved in around the middle of next month so that would put us at 9 months from cutting to occupancy.

Thanks Kyle. I'd like to think it's all vision and foresight but some is probably just dumb luck. lol. It's probably hard to mess up a timberframe. Going in we had a vision of what we were after and for the most part everything has turned out just as we had hoped. I think my favorite part of the house is going to be the kitchen when it's all finished. This is the only major change we've had so far. We planned on knotty alder in a warm stain for the cabinets. After seeing the frame and ceiling we made a change to painted cabinets to help break up all of the wood and I'm glad we did. We've also switched from silstone counters back to granite. The white cabinets will get a dark granite and the island will get a lighter granite. They will get installed on Wed.

The hardest part for me so far on the project was lighting. I could visualize everything but the lighting. I really struggled with this part. This is the area where our decision to stick frame instead of using sips helped out a bunch since we were able to make a lot of decisions after the walls were up.
