Hello all,

It's been a LONG time since I posted on it. I am selling my 2011 2320 (which I think I have sold already for $15,750) which includes a 54D mower deck and a 200CX loader with a 4' Bucket. It has 376 hours, and I have taken really good care of it.

I started looking at the 2022 4044R, but wanted the turbo for a wee bit more power, so went to the 4052R. Biggest game changer is the lift capacity, and finally a cab to work in the winter in. I added a 7' snowplow and a 3rd function, and R4 tires, beacon, and rear wiper. My uncle has the same tractor (older) with a backhoe, so I MIGHT get power beyond to use his hoe if needed - but not sure. I also do not plan on the 4th and 5th function at this time.

HOWEVER...

I see this beast does not come with a mid pto anymore, and that will force me to run a rear finish mower around my lawn...and the tractor is a bit bigger and a bit (lots) heavier than the old 2320 and that worried me in regards to soil compaction and maneuverability. So now here I am wondering if the 3039R would be better for me...BUT...I need to lift some heavy stuff from time to time (logs, hay, horses...) so I am looking for the lift capacity. Both tractors are close in price. However, the mid-mount mower is MUCH more than a rear finish on the used market.

I plan to continue to use my rotary cutter in the fields, pallet forks, landscape rake, pto chipper, etc...

Any thoughts?

Thank you!

Probably in total - finish mowing is 2+\- acres. I have some very hilly terrain on a section the 2320 dominated with the 4wd.

If it were me, I would be all over the 4052R.

R4’s are relatively easy on your lawn. Keep the bigger tractor.

I know that 'we' are spending your money; I would go with the 4052R (R4 tyres) as it will do all of the big jobs that you require a tractor to do. I would further 'package' the deal with a Z-Turn to handle the mowing around the 'house/buildings' as it will be easier on the lawn/ground due to its reduced weight/imprint.

If you do go with a Z-Turn, or dedicated lawn tractor, ensure that the unit includes a 'towing package'. That's standard on a lawn tractor but an addition to a Z-Turn.

MHO.

Thanks everyone. I’ll likely move ahead with the 4052R. I have a pretty good deal negotiated, and I asked they toss in power beyond with the 4th and 5th function on top of the 3rd function and the 7’ snow blade and loader with bucket.

They are loading the tires, so it will be a bit heavy, but agree the R4s are not too bad on lawns if you’re mindful. 😎

Maybe if they said they can’t do the deal with the 4th and 5th I’ll have them toss in a zero-turn. Lol

Edited for typo

She's at the dealer, and just had the tires loaded. Waiting on the loader, snow blade, lights, mirrors, etc. I am pretty excited - and a little nervous. This thing is so much larger than my old 2320 which, I just delivered to it's new home. I am going to miss that old 2320 - we got a TON done!

Once you get it home and start using it the largeness will go away. You are going to be one happy camper!!!

Can’t wait! I’m really looking forward to plowing snow. Just ordered my Bluetooth radio and 4x6 speakers! 😎

The 4052R Cab is a great tractor, but overkill for 2+/- acres. It's also a heavy tractor (about 4500 lbs. with the loader...maybe more)
You could handle a 6' RFM easily...maybe a 7 footer.
I used to mow my grass with a Deere 4400 and 6' RFM. The gage wheels on the RFM would tear up the lawn if I turned too sharply or too fast.
A ZTR has a much lower center of gravity...probably safer on the hilly areas (as long as you mow when the grass is dry)
So, my vote is for the 4052 and a ZTR

Did it come with that 2 steps entry, or was that an option?
I've got a bad leg, and the 2-step entry might be something I'd be interested in
Did you get the rear wiper kit? Pretty handy if you use a 3PH snow blower...

Very nice. You realize you probably will be the cause of a lack of snow in your area now.
Ain't that the truth! Sit back - turn on the tunes (and heat) and go to town!

I completely agree with you on the tractor for mowing. I worry about compaction and overall weight on the leach field and septic tank. I have 2+/- lawn, but 11 acres of woods/pasture. Tried to have the cake and eat it too - but nope. It looks like a zero turn in my future for sure.

Good looking set-up you have there!!

I believe that step is standard. I build a 4052R, and went back and forth for about a month with the dealer. When it came time to order they could not find anything - told me it would be here in February. I thought about walking to the Kubota dealer (which is fine too), but they ended up finding one in Maine that was a special order, but the guy backed out. So now they have to add the goodies I wanted on it. I did also order the rear wiper.

I am in Springfield Vermont, but also spend a good amount of time in the NEK (Barnet, Ryegate area)

I've got about 9 acres...2 or so is lawn. The remainder is field (3-4 acres) and forest.
The only tasks I use the 4052 (other than field mowing) is snow removal (plowing or blowing) and annual limbs and branch chipping

My ZTR is also a Deere commercial unit (Z920) which I bought used several years ago. IIRC, had around 200 hours on it. It has about 530 hours on it now and has been a great machine. I would not hesitate to buy another used commercial ZTR again. One thing I do recommend is if you buy a used (or new) ZTR, make sure it has a suspension seat. ZTR's are great mowing machines but have a rough ride.
The only issue I've had with this machine (the ZTR) is the PTO switch. I've had to replace it twice. I found a heavier duty (and less expensive) switch on Amazon, IIRC. No problems since...
I've also swapped out the rear turf tires for bar-turfs. Better grip on slopes

That's fantastic! Just what I am looking for! I am watching the used market and hope I can find one that someone is unloading this fall.

Sounds like your pretty close to my neck of the woods! I am in Claremont often!

Looks like I will be receiving the tractor Friday. Had to wait for some parts and installation.

I ended up buying a Bluetooth radio and speakers, so I will add that next week. Does anyone know if the harness is already above the headliner?
