Tinnitus making me mental

I have found I wear hearing protection even when out on the tractor for more than a few minutes. Especially, when mowing, where the motor is constantly revved up, and the mower itself is loud also. If I do not my ears and tinnitus rings double loud for a long while after.

Wear ear protection for even the smallest jobs like using a hammer or electric drill. I do believe that some degree of 'self-healing' is possible if you take extra good care not to make it worse.

after an incident at the shooting range a while back left me with some tinnitus in my right ear ( that thankfully abated in about 3 weeks).. I now always wear ear plugs even when mowing or weedeating or driving a tractor. i used to not wear them on a tractor.. but did on a mower or weedeater.

I wore a plug in that ringing ear durin ghte day for the entire 3 weeks ( took it out at night.. etc. ).. plus lipo flavenoid.. and the ringing just went away one day... get a faint sound every now and then.. but am being ultra carefull about it now..

^ Yeah.....riiiight. :sarcastic::sarcastic: A single injection huh? Errrr.....I think I will wait for a pill. :D Somehow I dont think nerve damage is gonna be repairable with an injection. I wish I was wrong. :(

There are multiple causes of tinnitus. It can be caused in the brain as well as in the nerves and physical structures of the ear. Amphetamine abuse can cause it, for example. For neurological tinnitus, drug treatment may be helpful.

Yup, I went on a No-Doz spree once and after awhile, one morning I woke up and one ear was going off like a very loud steam whistle and everyone sounded like their voices were coming from way down a very long pipe. That lasted for a day and needless to say, never taken a No-Doz (pure caffeine) since.

Does anyone know of anything that can help the ringing in my ears? Actually mine has progressed to more of a brake squeal noise at all times. I don't hear high pitched sounds anymore. 30 years in construction and way to many gunshots with no hearing protection when I was younger, including shots from inside a pickup truck.

I know how you feel. Our family doctor put his ear to mine and he was able to hear my tinnitus. I go to an ENT next week. A pipe bomb caused mine from so yahoo tossing a pipe bomb into the Ford Motor Credit office in Tulsa Oklahoma 25 or so years ago. I was less the 75 feet away when it went off.

Yep, non-smokers blame smoking for everything from cancer to hangnails.

Incidentally, I quit smoking 6 years ago and the tinnitus has gotten worse, but I'm sure you think smoking caused it.

Unfortunately I speak from experience Bird. I have both tinnitus and a mild craving. Nowadays the craving is satisfied by a couple of puffs on the weekend but I can tell you the ear ringing doubles in volume almost instantly.

OK, I'll take your word for it because I haven't had that experience and don't guess I will because when I quit, I quit . . . completely; haven't had a single puff since. And my health has gone downhill.

Good! Because Tinnitus sucks! You don't want to go there, any of you young guys reading this protect your hearing!!! I have it bad in my right it and moderate in my left. Gun fire (lefty) Rock n roll and years spent running machinery. I never thought about wearing hearing protection and I really regret it now. They only time I don't hear it is when I am in the shower or some other white noise overpowers it.

I am trying a new product called "Ring Relief" at the moment. It may be helping a little but it could also be wishful thinking.

I'm 50 so I am hoping by the time I am 60 they have a cure, there is a tremendous amount of money on the table for the first ones that do.
I bet 80% of TBN has some form of Tinnitus...in fact someone should start a poll, it would be interesting to see.
