I use Zest, and take the little sliver and rub it against a new bar with a lot of pressure, and then set it back on the soap tray. Next morning the sliver is usually melded into the new bar, and will get used up if treated gently.

Actually it works on any bar soap.
I've been doing it for years now. I use a wash cloth to lather up in the shower so i just use one side of MY bar of soap and by the time it gets down to around a 1/4 or less it's already flat and the wife is already using the second or third newer bar, that she just has to have, and I then work on that one just to get it flat enough to combine the two. Same thing just rub the bars together with a little lather to glue them together and it works 99% of the time. Just has to dry over night.
I'm on a septic system so after working at a Sewer and Drain Co. for a few years I get "****" (<-- get it?) about what goes in my tank.

Once again, anybody who has done much with a log splitter knows these tips probably. I always use a round as a seat to run the splitter when doing large rounds and the splitter is vertical. It saves the back. I also keep an axe and splitting maul handy, if you get a stringy piece it helps. The pic shows my log seat with an axe in it.

Your funnels. Cover them up. I hang mine on the wall and throw an old shop rag over the top. Before that I would grab a funnel and spend a few minutes wiping the dust and dirt out of it. The film of oil just attracts dust and makes it stick.
I cut the end out of a large coffee can and taped it to another large coffee can. I store my funnels in it and use the lid to keep dirt out of my funnels. That's for smaller funnels. For large funnels, I use a rag as you mention.

If you have problems removing some Phillips head screws, i.e. the screwdriver doesn't fit them well, they are most likely JIS (Japanese Industry Standard) screws, most imported items use them. Get a couple of JIS screwdrivers, #1 and #2, and they will fit much better.
Sometimes they might be Posidrive screws, but those a not very common.
I use only torx now if possible. So much better than phillips, no more striping the heads.

So we all lose buttons on our work clothing. Check this if you are going out to work. Its a slow thing, an unnoticable thing to have open cuffs, or a flapping lower lapel to your jacket. It is after all the familiar working clothing you use. These things ARE dangerious, and do get caught in machinery.

I switched to a wood processor (WP845) for most of my firewood work which uses a winch infeed.

Some times for small jobs of say cord or two I still pull out my 25t gas log splitter.
I'm still doing 20 - 30 cords per year.

amazing how much easier using a pulp hook, hookeroon or pickeroon makes the work faster, easier, and more enjoyable. 100% must have tools in my arsenal for sure especially for us long in the tooth.

Would never split wood without having my hookeroon and pulp hook hanging from my belt. Most inexpensive (<$100) and most useful work easing tools I have in my wooding arsenal.

My wife just repaired our house gutters and covered them with a steel mesh product (Costco sold).

We set up a wire brush on a drill with an extender so it could reach until the deeper gutters to remove rust; with a bit of poly pipe over the extender that she could hold onto with the other hand to steady and guide the wire.
