Several people have asked why I didn't get the hydraulics on both sides. I have to say that after using the setup for quite a while, I don't think the extra cost would have been justified. I have the manually adjustable link on one side, the hydraulic on the other. If I should get into a situation where I need extreme tilt, then I can adjust the manual link in addition to the hyd on the other side.

LarryT, I've been thinking (hoping?) exactly what you just said. And I'm intending to do the same thing you did. I don't know whether it was the dealer or the Tisco warehouse that made a mistake on the order, but the dealer now has everything except one knob and one linkage kit for one of the valve handles.

I ordered a digital camera today so if I succeed in doing the installation myself, I'll try to post some pictures. Now if I can just salvage some of the cost of the camera by selling my 35mm and my video camera (which we hardly ever use anyway)./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif Anyone want to buy a Nikon Zoom Touch 500 or JVC GR-AX10 video camera set?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Cliff, I don't know what the "right" price would be for the tip 'n tilt, but one dealer quoted me a price of $861 for a "kit" for the B8200/9200 Kubotas, thinking it would also fit my B2710. And that was plus $100 to $150 if they installed it. For individual components, he was quoting $220 each for the cylinders and $240+ for the valve. What I have ordered is both cylinders for $185.70 each, the two spool valve for $203.84 plus about $12 for the handles and linkages. And I'll have the hoses made locally. I've seen lots of good valves cheaper, but they were all too big and heavy to suit me, and I've seen lots of cylinders cheaper, but I'd have to have the proper ends put on them, so I don't know if the end result would be any cheaper or not.

(1) The cost difference seems relatively small, percentage-wise.
(2) Worse comes to worse, we can just slide a larger tractor under it. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Not sure how big a tractor it would take for your Northern valve. If you could find a straight trade deal for the smaller valve, I'd go for it.

Thanks for opening my eyes -- I thought the idea was to replace the adjustable side link with a hydraulic cylinder. It didn't occur to me that if you leave that one alone and put the hydraulics on the other side, you'd have much greater range in a pinch -- Duh! /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

I've only gotten ballpark figures from my dealer about a Tisco tip 'n' tilt kit, but he said to figure on about $1,000 for parts and labor. Doing it yourself would save maybe 2 or 3 hundred bucks.

Hey, Bird -

I forgot to ask -- which digital camera did you decide on?

Whatever it is, TractorByNet is going to be the beneficiary. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I know there's a bunch of us who are anxious to look over your shoulder with your tip 'n' tilt project. I'm sure there's other subject matter floating around your place that would be fun to share, too.

Have you considered eBay for selling your other cameras? It's easier than you might think.

Bird, wow! That makes my deal ($600 installed) about dealer cost. But that was with a new tractor so of course the were "makin deals". Glad I did it then! I assume no one ever called my guy for a price?

Harv, for whatever reason, I've always seen the hydraulic unit installed on the right side. One reason I can think of in my case is that the controls are on the right side so when I turn to the right to see controls, I also see the cylinder/implement. Futher, I think it makes sense to have the T&T controls near the 3pt position control since I normally constantly move my hand between the three levers. (gee! maybe I just answered my own question!) Anyway, the dealer didn't install the manually adjustable link. I made sure he delivered the "removed" parts, then I switched out the non-adjustable "left link" with the original "adjustable right link". There's that "right adjustable thing again, must some reason the right one is always adjustable". In any case, it was easy to swap the fixed one for for the adjustable one. Boy, that sure was long winded......sorry!
