Are you talking perforated pipe? If so then you might want a really big vacuum to suck that plastic bag, lol. ...

The pipes come in 10 foot lengths so it will be easy to get the witness line in without having to suck a "pig" through the pipe.

Using 10 foot sections makes it easier to set up 45 degree and 22.5 degree bends.

There was a mention of the soil getting stuck in the bucket. It's a real PITA when that happens. A can of PAM cooking spray helps make the bucket slick.

What a great thread!
After you get the hang of it, you can leave the parking brake off and just lower the FEL and stabilizers to the ground to stabilize the tractor. Then, when you want to move the tractor don't spin the seat, just raise the stabilizers, reach around and raise the loader, then reach down behind you and pull UP on the reverse pedal. That is the same thing as pushing down on the forward pedal.
That seems easier than using the backhoe to push the tractor.

I dug up this older thread - I'm digging my trenches and am in the same learning curve. I tried pushing the forward pedal with a stick (I'll try pulling up on the rear tonight) but the engine gets turned off due to built-in safety mechanisum - I also need to press on two push-buttons that are normally depressed when the BX24 seat is pointing in the forward position - this is really awkward and painfull!

Are these new buttons that weren't in the picture when the quoted message was written?
I guess I'll also try the ho'shuffle...

The stick on the petal trick works great with my BX23.
1* My BX23 is not like that .
From what I've seen read and heard Kubota didn't improve the BX23 they butchered it with the BX24.

You can only move very slowly. The safety switches on my 23 will allow a little movement of the pedal before the shutoff activates

You're right. On my 24, I reach around to my left, use my left hand on the pedal, and my right hand to pinch the black safety switch. If I was digging a long trench, I would either try to use the backhoe to move the tractor or disable the safety switch with tape or by shorting it.

I use a stick with my Kioti CK30HST hoe when trenching. It works great
and no safety mechanisms to bug me. My JD955 was tougher, until
I disabled the mechanical safety under the seat. HSTs are great. And
safe, too.
