Any opinions on tire chain type? The local NH dealer has one set of chains to fit my Kubota B7800 R-4 tires they are cross member will these be preferable over the other options ladder,ring,v-bar etc...

Tirechains.com recommends the X type chains for rear tires on R4's. I think they would be a bit easier to install (if easy is the right word) than ladder type which are a bear to install on those tires. For the fronts, if you use them, tirechains.com recommends the ladder type on the smaller tires.

The ladder type get caught in the deep treads and require a lot of finagling to get on decently. Going into the deep treads, also, of course, defeats the traction you want out of the chains.

I've been very happy with my double rings on R4 tires. I don't think you can beat them in mud, snow or ice. Around here that's about the only chain I see on ag tractors, (working every day in mud, snow and ice).

I just put on a set of 2 link ladder chains on my R4 rear tires. Our driveways are paved, some are sloped pretty good. These seem to work quite well for me so far. I guess it depends on the type of road surfaces you will be working on. If dirt/gravel, and you get a lot of snow/ice, then you'd probably need an aggressive chain.

I just got the 2 link v-bar set for my front turf tires.

Been using 2 Link Ladders on the R4 rears of of my B7800 for about four years.

I snowblow my 530' gravel driveway and my neighbors 100' gravel driveway.
Both driveways have a hill at the end, and I have had no traction problems, even on ice.
(I have no liquid ballast in my tires either)

These 2 link ladder chains are also easy on the cement floor of my garage.

Only portions of each ladder get buried in the tire grooves, each ladder eventually crosses over the top of a tread, so each ladder does provide traction as it contacts the ground.

Also, with R4s on a B7800, you have about one inch clearance from the inner fender.

Good luck
