Tire chain recomendations

From my experience, chains down in between the lugs, are better than no chains at all. Last winter we had the most snow in recent memories. Our 3910 two wheel drive, ag tires, 4 link chains, would go about anywhere as long as I had a round bale on the back. Our New Holland 2210, four wheel drive, was constantly pushing or pulling itself out of the snow with the loader.

Not knowing much about chains, I ordered a set (front and rear) with my tractor. It's now a chase of learning after the fact...seems to be part of this sport. Anyway, the chains I have are very nice latters (every three rings), but with R4's they do tend to land between the treads. Question: thinking about ordering (tirechains.com) more cross members and adding them to the chains I have...anyone done this?

So, after researching this further, I don't think I have the room for chains. People are saying that I need 3" of clearance and on my 1552 the front edge of the fender is 1 1/2" away from my tire (maybe even a little closer on the right side where I bumped that log last spring, doh!) I'm thinking that's too close....

It does sound a bit tight.. I've got almost exactly 3 inches from rubber to closest part of the fender, the chains reduce that by at least an inch.
The Tellefsdals I have used to "tap" the fender occasionally, I shortened one set of the "H" chains where they're joined by one link this year and cured that. If you ran them really tight you MIGHT get away with it, there are different opinions on how tight they should be.
Mine are quite loose by some standards, it's what Tellefsdal recommends.

Hope they get back to you soon, winter is still here. I can tell you a dealer local to me, Nova International. Good folks to deal with.

Norse skidding chains, tire chains | Nova International Ltd

They sell them under the Norse brand name, box says Tellefsdal.

Shipping would be a bear, I suspect.

Someone here found them in the US, Gordon Gould, maybe??
