Hi all.

Has anybody used tire chains when doing landscaping work in clay, such as leveling and spreading fill with a box blade? I have a John Deere 2520 and am going to be doing lots of landscape and grading work on my yard this summer. My tractor is light, as I also mow with it, so I don't want to fluid fill the tires. I could use a little more traction when doing the rough work in clay.....

Chains will definately help. If they load up with clay they won't be so good. If you can mount them loose so they flop around it helps with the self cleaning.

x2 for the loose mounting, I would think that 2 link v-bars would work the best as long as you could get them cleaned out. If its wet and soupy it will only work so well. If your looking for cheap 4 link chains will definately help to. Do you have ag, turf, or industrial tires now? Are you concerned about using the chains in the dirt or just wondering if they will help at all?

I have industrial tires. The traction is not really that good in clay.

The two link vbar chains are a really good suggestion.:)

Chains on all four tires will really be noticeable.:D
