I SEARCHED FOR SOME TIRE CHAIN INFO , CAME UP EMPTY HANDED, SO HERE'S MY QUESTION. ARE REAR TIRE CHAINS AVAILIBLE FOR THE BX-2200 TIRES? AND IF AVAILIBLE, WHAT IS THE PRICE?

THANKS: WALT (WAITING FOR THE SNOW)

Walt,
Have you check w/ your Kubota dealer about tire chains, for they might have a booklet you could peek at.

Take care and enjoy the first day of autumn. /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

Here's a web site that sells chains. I haven't dealt with them, but some positive comments have been posted about them:

http://www.tirechain.com/

Some people have clearance problems using chains. Typical problem areas are between the front tire and tie rod ends, and rear tire and fenders. The fender clearance is usually less on a tractor with turf tires. Maybe somebody or your dealer has some experience running chains on a tractor similar to yours.

Walt; You may not even need those chains. Last winter, I too was considering chains for the BX2200. After picking the brains of the long time compact owners on this board, decided to try it without chains (turf tires and rear wheel weights). And then 3 major (by MD standards, not by CT) storms came (playtime!). Each dumped 12" to 24" of snow. Using a 5' rear blade, had absolutely no problems. Never slipped. Never felt that I needed extra traction, this was while running on both asphalt and gravel.

THANKS FOR YOUR QUICK REPLIES TO MY QUESTION. I APPEARS THAT CHAINS ARE AVAILIBLE AND AFFORDABLE,(>$100.00)FOR THE BX 2200,FROM TIRECHAIN.COM.
BESIDES THE WINTER SNOW USE, I BELIEVE THIS WILL PROVIDE
X-TRA TRACTION WHEN USING THE BOX SCRAPER ON GRAVEL DRIVEWAYS VS.HAVING TO SWITCH FROM TURF TIRES TO AG-BAR TIRES.

AS A SIDE NOTE, I NOW HAVE APPROX. 60 HRS ON THIS BX 2200, AND HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEMS OTHERS HAVE POSTED,
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE 3 POINT HITCH ISSUES.
I HAVE ENJOYED USING THIS IN A VARIETY OF MOWING AND EARTHMOVING TASKS.

Walt; Which type of chain did you go with?

Also, I have a request. After you had a chance to try them out, let us know how they are. I am particularly interested if they significantly help when grading. Thanks.
