I need to fix a slow leak on rear tire bx24. What tool do I use to remove lug nuts?

I usually just use a socket and breaker bar to get them loose, then a ratchet. I have an old torque wrench I use when I need a big breaker bar, but the longer the better. Extensions are a must to get in the recessed area of the wheel.

Thanks for the reply,
They have sockets that large available in your local improvement center? Do you happen to know the size?

When I first bought my BX, I thought I would do a lot of changing back and forth between turfs and ags, so I bought two sets of wheels/tires. From Harbor Freight, I bought (both on a 1/2 price sale) a quick stroke hydraulic hand jack, (about $20 on sale), an electric impact wrench (about $20 more), and the correct size socket. I was able to change those wheels like a NASCAR pit crew (well, pretty fast compared to regular tools). I just keep the ags on all the time now, but that jack and electric impact wrench are a great investment just the same. I use the wrench to take the blades off at sharpening time. It has come in handy for all kinds of other things too, like driving (very) big hex lags.

Put some Slime in the tire, it will save you a bundle of work.......

I agree - Don't bother taking it off - Get some slime and put in a little more than they recommend. Pump up and take off.

Why take it off?
spray some soapy water on to find leak
Plug it on your tractor and put 1/2 jug of slime in the tire you will be good to go.

I don't know the size, but I do suggest you get a 6 point socket (rather then a 12 point). Less chance for slippage with a 6 point.

Rather you pull the wheel or go with the Slime suggestions, you need this socket to check torque on the wheel bolts or lug nuts.

I would use a 4 way lug wrench

Folks, Thanks for all the great suggestions. I ended up borrowing a 1/2 impact wrench, purchased a 21 mil socket and the lug nuts come off easily. I used the back hoe and stablizers to raise the machine to get the tire off. I put a heavy duty jack stand under the frame for good measure while I wait for our local power equiment store to repair leak. Thanks for all the help. Kubota Rules!
