Tire Clearance on 2520

I am a new 2520 owner and questioned tire clearance before I bought it. Sounded like it would not be a problem running chains on r4 tires using I-Match.Well. I am disappointed,I can tell you first hand chains would not work on my 2520.I have alot of hills and the tires have worn the paint of the three point hitch arms when fully raised in just 3 hours use. And yes I have the turnbuckles adjusted tight.Chains just wouldn't work right now even with the wheels flipped.I am machining 3" spacers now that should solve my clearance problems and enable my to run chains.Plus I will get the added stability on side hills. Still, I am kinda pissed I need to do this especially when I asked the dealer about this before i bought this tractor.

You said the wheels are switched and still rub? The valve stems are in correct?

No my wheels aren't flipped,I beleive it will only gain about 1/2 " clearance.Maybe enough to stop the tire rub now. But will not gain enough clearance for chains.

With my valve stems in I have 1 3/8" clearance at the 3pt arms. What if you remove the quick hitch through winter, might give some clearance. Just attach your blade or blower the old way. Also if you just put chains on front tires would that be enough? Just a suggestion.

I appreciate the honest feedback. I wonder if there is a tire with the same diameter, but about .75/ .80 of the width that would be available as a turf tire?

The spacers that you are making- is that for the 3 point on the tractor side or wheel spacers?

I posted a formula some time ago for calculating overrun ratio as well as the MFWD ratios (front to rear) for both the 2320 and 2520. The formula can be used to determine if a particular front/rear tire size combination is acceptable. It is best to measure actual tire size when possible vs using the size printed on the tire sidewall. Now if Deere would make a small mod to the 2520 they could sell one more..if not..I guess I will need to go with a 2320 or a new Kubota model.

Here are a couple of 2320 pictures.... hope they help I also attached a picture of a 2008 JD 2320, and it looks like they might have changed the turf tires to taller, and a little less wide. The Deere web site doesn't confirm that yet though.

Those tires look super-skinny compared to my 2520's, wow!
