I'm new to this site. I just took delivery of a new 2520 last week. Generally I really like the tractor. From the day I looked at it I could see that the rear end of this machine is exactly the same hardware as my older 4100. With the larger and wider rear tires it only figures that the draft arm clearance would be less. First thing I asked the dealer was whether there would be any tire clearance issues with some of the wider cat 1 implements. He said of course not. I have a JD back blade that is 32 inches across the ends of the pins. It rubs the tires on my 4100 unless I turn the tires out to the wide position. Then it has just wide enough to fit chains on the tires. Sure enough, as I expected, as soon as I read all the issues you are all having with tire clearance I went out and tried my back blade on the 2520. I put tires in the wide position, this gave me exactly 2 inches more width. When the 3 point is raised all the way up the draft arms rub on the tires. I need to put chains on this thing too. I have R4 tires. I went to the dealer on Friday and told him I was not happy. He claims that the Cat 1 spec. only allows implements to be 31 inches across the pins. He's never heard about a width problem on the 2520 and claims my back blade is too wide. Anyone know what the spec. says? I tried to google it but can't find the width number. If my implement is not wider then the spec. allows and if there is a JD fix coming I am going to insist they fix this for free. Any odds on that?
Another thing I read on this forum that is very interesting, whether there is a glow plug light on the 2520. Mine has something that sure looks like one. It's on the right side of the dash just below the PTO light. It's yellow and has a symbol that looks like a light bulb on it. It glows yellow for about 10 seconds after you turn the key on. My manual says nothing about this light. The dashboard diagram in the manual shows an outline of the light but assigns no funcion to it and never mentions it. How can some of us have this and some don't? What is it? I asked my dealer and he said just look in the manual. Great! Nice machine but lousy manual and not very knowlegeable dealer.
Also thanks to the guys who mentioned the front wheel spacers that will allow front chains and the lock-up kit that holds the mower lift kit up. Unlike my older 4100 it will be absolutely necessary to hold the lift kit up when not using the mower. The tie rod they have connecting the two sides will get ripped off pretty quick driving around in the woods running a bush hog. These are nice accessories that my dealer had no idea existed until I asked.
Sorry for the long first post.
