Cracked tires are a sign "I need replacement". I never load the tires to whatever max is on the tire. Makes the ride to rough.

Neighbor kaboomed one of the large rears on his large Case while baling. He was on a pretty good slope too but somehow didn't roll it.

Slime is amazing stuff. But not a replacement for a new tire when one is warranted.

I gave a gallon to my buddy who cannot afford new tires for his old four wheeler. But he will not drive it hard or far unless he is with another person.

Glad no one was hurt or had a brown out in their shorts.

cracking is the sign that the rubber is disintegrating. cheap imported tires don't use the necessary proper rubber and methods to make the tire last. made in USA Carlisle tires that I have are 20 years old, and are like new!..

My father-in-law gave me a home-made trailer made the 1950s that is awesome. Dual axles that look like they belong on a semi. 20 years ago I had American made ST rated white-wall tires installed and have always kept them covered. last year I decided to overhaul it, media blasting and power coating everything including the wheels. so, the tires had to come off.. they still looked brand new.
When I got the wheels back I took them with the tires to get them remounted and balanced. SURPRISE!!! the tire shop here in the Democrap Republik of Crudafonia said the state prohibited them from mounting tires more than 10 years old but would be happy to sell me 5 new ones. (they are NOT cheap)
so, I found a used tire machine for sale... $75 bux and will all the trimmings.. Funny how that same shop had no problem balancing them :)

Liability concerns maybe? If i had a tire shop I'd probably be reluctant to remount 60+ year old tires too. Balancing, different story.
Good deal on the tire machine. Paid for itself first use.

It's not just California. Our tire shops won't work on tires over 6 or 8 years old, I forget exactly how old. Also, they won't repair a tire that had damage outside the edge of the tread. I hope you don't use that trailer on the road. I will use tires as old as 10 years because I keep everything inside, but I have had an older tire, that looked new, explode while stored in the garage, not even on a vehicle. After that happened, I took the age of the tire more seriously.

Back in the 70's, I had one of the infamous Firestone 721 tires blow while going down the freeway in Phoenix. Tire disintegrated and blew the front fender clean off of a '77 Chrysler Cordoba. That, along with how Firestone treated us after the event, is why I never have, or ever will buy another Firestone tire. We finally got paid for all the damage to the car (new car), but it took years.

I also once had an old tire leaning up against the outside wall of my shop blow the tread off. It was mounted on a rim and had air in it (obviously), but it hadn't been used in a long time. Just sitting there, with other tires leaning against it in a row. BOOM! Was loud as heck, and I was in the shop on the other side of the wall.
