Tire Inflator for Newer Vehicles?

I frequently reduce my pickup tire pressure when on sand or soft ground. To speed up the re inflation time, I use this ViAir portable 12V compressor:

It also comes in handy for small air tools or inflating air mattresses, rafts, bicycle tires, etc.

Instead of having to pop the hood to connect the compressor to the battery, I made up this adapter that plugs into the vehicle trailer wiring harness socket. Makes a convenient place to attach the compressor alligator clips. It's a standard 7 pin connector, wired to the 30A trailer aux circuit which is protected by the OEM under hood circuit breaker.

I keep a Dewalt 20V inflator, 20V 1/2" impact, the 20V power pack, and a spare 4AH battery in my truck. I have an Airmoto inflator for the 2 SUVs. It charges off the USB-A plug on the console.

I have the same DeWalt inflator. I've been using it for 6 years now with no issues.

For anyone interested, it's on an Amazon cyber Monday sale for 42% off

Very good idea(y)

I'm not going to go with a rechargeable solution. I want something I can leave under the back seat and not have to worry about a battery that sits in sub freezing weather all winter and hasn't been charged in weeks or months.

pulling power from the trailer wiring is a neat one - i had not thought of that. i wanted to go with a simple 120v plug-in, since that's right there and anyone can use it easily. I didn't want to have to resort to popping the hood and finding battery terminals to hook alligator clips up (not for me, but in case someone else had to use it without me there) I'm going to keep on the search for a 120v solution at the moment, but if i have to compromise, the trailer wiring tap-in looks promising.

The newer rechargeable batteries really hold their charge. I've got an inflator/jump starter that sits in my truck for months and still will have almost a full charge. As a different example, I just got out my heated gloves. I charged them up last March and put them away and forgot about them. When I pulled them out they showed 3 out of 4 lights for the charge level and came back to full charge in about 20 minutes.

I'd like to know what brand/model of truck comes with no 12v outlet? That's something I use on ALL my vehicles!

Like "Workinonit" said ..... the best money I've spent in the last couple years was for the Milwaukee M18 ( It retired 4 compressors I now do not use )
