I'd like to know what brand/model of truck comes with no 12v outlet? That's something I use on ALL my vehicles!
22 GMC Sierra AT4. No 12V outlet. I had to wire my own.

Like "Workinonit" said ..... the best money I've spent in the last couple years was for the Milwaukee M18 ( It retired 4 compressors I now do not use )

I have one of those and love it for using around the property but I don't want something that big taking up space in my truck. I keep a little $20 Slime (or equivalent) pump in all my vehicles because for the one flat I get every 5 or so years that's all the space I want to give up. It'd be a different story if I were offroading and needed to air up & down frequently.

A new vehicle should have TPMS. If it's a slow leak, there should be time to go add air somewhere. If it's a fast leak, then the air compressor is irrelevant. It's time to get out the spare.

I carry a plug kit in every vehicle I own. It's faster to install a string plug than change a tire.

I frequently reduce my pickup tire pressure when on sand or soft ground. To speed up the re inflation time, I use this ViAir portable 12V compressor:

It also comes in handy for small air tools or inflating air mattresses, rafts, bicycle tires, etc.

Instead of having to pop the hood to connect the compressor to the battery, I made up this adapter that plugs into the vehicle trailer wiring harness socket. Makes a convenient place to attach the compressor alligator clips. It's a standard 7 pin connector, wired to the 30A trailer aux circuit which is protected by the OEM under hood circuit breaker.

I have the same Viair kit. 400 something with a high pressure cut out. Had a similar adapter only to an Anderson plug. Might steal your trailer adapter idea. I tend to mostly use it for the 5th wheel rather than move it up to the 5hp shop compressor.

I'm likely to pick up a cheap tiny Ryobi 18v compressor for the car. The Viair is just to big & heavy to leave in there & I only need it for emergencies. I have a ton of Ryobi batteries anyway.

New Chevy's. I saw that on some YouTube videos & the 3500 I rented this summer didn't have anything but USB ports. It was a decent mod trim model too

You are correct, the USB is only 2V or 5V, and the compressor needs the full 12V.

Disregard. I tried.
USB is only 5v half an amp according to the standard. Some of them support 2ish amps a few will negotiate a higher voltage. Many USB C ports will negotiate higher amperage & voltage. I think they top out at 20v & 240 watts with the right cables, source & client. Which is a lot for a plug that small.

The one in my truck is capped at 120 watts. That’s pretty useless. The one in my dad’s Ford is rated at 450 watts. Thats really no use for any power tool either. I tried plugging in my Dewalt fast charger and it popped the breaker. I didn’t try the regular rate battery charger to see what happened.
