On a flat surface, the tire treads should be flat against the ground. Maximum traction. QUOTE]
This makes sense to me but it doesn't mention it anywhere in my manual.I have my unballasted R4's on the B7800 inflated to 17 Psi as per the manual, but when parked on the cement floor with no weight on the 3pt, only the middle of the tire is on the ground and the outsides of the treads appear to be about 1" off the ground. Should I be letting out some air to get more traction or will this cause the sidewalls to flex too much?If anyone has experimented with pressures on B7800 with R4's, I'd be interested to hear the results. Thanks

Having just traded in my L3600DT (R1 tires, FEL) for a new L5030HST (R4 tires, FEL), I had the same question on front tire pressure. Both tractor and loader manuals stated only 20 psi for front tires with the extra note about maintaining max pressure with a loader attachment. Previous experience on the L3600 was that I rolled a tire off the rim with a heavy load using the recommended pressure in the manual (20 psi). I was not impressed.

When the L5030 was delivered, the front tires were set at 45 psi in accordance with the max tire pressure noted on the side of the tire. The dealer confirmed that this was the correct tire pressure for that application. Additionally, I checked the online listing for the tire/wheel combination for that brand tire (Titan/Goodyear). This company supplies both the wheel and tire packages to the dealers in my area (Pacific NW) and lists the proper pressure as 45 psi. Based on my previous experience and all available data and recommendations, I'm going with the higher psi for my application.

I got sick of following the tire and/or manual recommended psi for my front tires on my 2120, and seeing them squashed with a full load in my bucket, so I've been running them at 50psi.
