New car, developed a slow leak at about 2K miles. Took it to America's Tire where I usually buy, but not often enough for them to know me. They said the manufacturer's warranty on tires that come with the car doesn't cover very much (I don't remember exactly what he said it covers, but that's basically it), and do I want to buy their warranty for $68 to cover all 4 tires, covering all road hazards, free rotations & rebalancing? I declined. He said, "I can get it for you for $50". So I bit. They checked the bad tire, it had a nail in the sidewall, unrepairable. So they gave me a new tire--the nailed tire was covered by the warranty I bought just 10 minutes before!

Don't feel bad. They will make that money back in later sales by keeping you as a customer. It's good business.
