Tired of being cold: Best, warmest jacket for farm/tractor work?

'Tis true and I've seen people sporting Carhartt logos that seem to have only recently deserted North Face.

The one Carhartt product I find indispensable is their insulated ball cap with ear flaps.
Carhartt Force® Ear-Flap Cap

I have their fleece cap with pull down face mask, I cannot live without it in winter, beats a beanie or toboggan hands down.

At 17 degrees it isn't a concern, but in extreme cold I've learned not to wear a watch, as that hand gets cold easily with it on my wrist.

Electric is nice if you aren't getting far from base; but I would hate to be 2 miles from my truck if the tractor flips or dies.

I wear this Carhartt coat. Sandstone Traditional Coat/Arctic Quilt-Lined
I also have the red lined overalls.

I've found a pair of full thermals with a t-shirt and hoodie and jeans to be plenty. Sitting on a tractor or the deer stand. Too much if doing any physical activity. I have the collar snap hood but don't use it. A quilted winter hat with ear flaps and the hoodie are usually enough. If plowing snow I'll use a fleece ski mask. Then a good pair of insulated leather gloves and two pairs of newer thick socks.

It's enough layers I can remove something to keep from sweating and the wind stays out but not so many I can't move. Only drawback is rain. Snow doesn't bother me as I'm not usually in it for long periods where I can't get it off me before melting. Rain just soaks in so when raining I try to limit my exposure and it takes a while to soak through the coat and lining enough for you to start to feel the chill.

I have a wide variety of clothes for winter activity, but for the temps in the teens the OP mentioned, just a simple Carhartt jacket and bibs, or coveralls if you prefer will do the job. Those of us in the North have many other combinations, as has previously mentioned, but 15 degrees or so isn't that cold!

I wear my wool LL Bean bibs and jacket for cold wet hunting. Wear Carhartt bibs and jacket from work for splitting wood and dirty stuff and sleepy is dead on about the turnout gear! The best by far is the LL Bean wool. Natural fibers and layers are key for me.

A quick jump in on wearing a watch... years ago I switched to a karabiner (spring hook) style. It hangs, upside-down, off of my front belt loop; I know that Leatherman and Smith & Wesson make a version. The watch is out of the way, yet accessible.

I switched due to safety concerns whilst in the Navy as an electronics tech; the 'mantra' is to always remove rings + watches before working in/on electrical/rotating equipment... but people always forget.

I wear Filson tin cloth coats during inclement weather. They're water and wind resistant and very tough chores coats. However, they aren't lined so I do need to layer...wool vest and a flannel shirt normally, along with an insulated hat...Filson's "Wild Fowl Hat" (Filson Life - The Tin Cloth Wildfowl Hat | Filson) is a good choice and wears like iron.
Trousers are also heavy cloth...Carhartts are good, but I like Arborwear better.

I've also found that by putting down a thick rubber mat on the floorboards, my feet don't get as cold

Additional options for the best jacket is, large pockets with flaps, large collar that keeps the wind out and an inside pocket for the flask. For soup. ;)

I have a Gerbing and controller. How did you wire it? I don't know whether to tap into the wiring for the work lights, add something to the fuse box, or run wires back from the battery.

I wired it directly to the battery, only because it was easiest. Right under/behind the seat I have a plug for an electric winch to plug into so I just tapped into that.

I'm one of those people who get cold fairly easy when sitting still, but I get off the tractor a lot to do 5-10 mins of work and heat up with too many clothes on. The electric is nice because it doesn't keep me too hot when I'm unplugged working off the tractor, but after sitting still for another 15 mins and cooling right back down I just twist the knob to my comfort level.

For me I haven't found a better alternative to electric gear, but it is probably overkill for mildly cold weather.
