Tires tires and rims

   / tires and rims #41
Every time I go to the local tire/auto shop with our vehicles I spend my time waiting looking at all of the impressive looking ATV tires and thinking that they look like they would fit my PT180. Now, I never wondered enough to actually research them and check the sidewall widths and all that, though many look like they would provide increased traction, perhaps even superior to bar treads. Has anybody else considered this?

The problem with ATV tires is that they're typically only rated to carry 350lbs - 400lbs or so... while the PT tires are rated at 1350lbs, unless I'm mistaken.

You mentioned short valve stem to avoid broken(mostly interior) stems.....I was in the automotive section of Sears and they have a slghtly shorter than normal stem...but it is totally metal. I wonder if this may be a fairly easy fix to the broken stem conundrum....I think they were around $4.50 each installed.
