Titan Econo 60" Grapple Bucket

I am in the market for a grapple for my JD 2150 with 520 loader. It has a unused set of remotes on the rear I plan to use as my 3rd function. Not the best, I understand, but it will do for me, as it is right below my loader control.

I am reeeeaally stretching my dollars here, and wondering about the Titan 60" Econo Grapple retailing right now for $1,996... with free shipping. I mainly want this for cleaning up five acres of woods, mostly deadfall stuff, not planning to use it for serious logging. Most of my mature growth is stuff I want to keep mature anyway. I bought a pair of Titan pallet forks last spring, and have pretty pleased with them. They are what they are; import steel and welds, not up to EA or Artillian quality, but they function fine for me, and have proven themselves to outperform my loader's capability for stressing them. I already use the forks for moving brush around, and have thought maybe about a pallet fork Add-A-Grapple, but keep coming back to thinking a dedicated tool might be best in the long run. The Titan Econo is not the Titan HD Extreme, but weighs in at 565 lbs, has a dual lid, and seem solidly made for the money. I hate supporting Chinese stuff, but on the other hand, I can't afford to go over $2K in this economy. Has anyone bought these, and had buyer's regrets?

PS... Don't try to sell me on something pricier, I already know they're good, and would go that route if I had the cash.

I dont know what steel those are made of, but be aware that there are no grease fittings, that I can see, so take the extra wear and maintenance time into account here.

Tomahawk makes these in the USA (right around the corner from me) and same price(s), but greaseable pins.. No idea what shipping is, but they sell a lot around here.

I think there are 2 different Titan Mfg. Titan attachment and Titan Implement. I have the Economy Root Grapple with the Dual cylinders and it works awesome it looks just like your picture.

The problem is the adapter plate requirement, adds another $600 to the cost. There are grease zerks on the lid hinges, but not the cylinder attachment points.

Could have sworn mounting type was included.

Another member was asking about the CTA grapple (post here) Its a single lid, but worth looking into as well.. The 62" doesn't show on the site, but emailing to check availability and shipping couldn't hurt.

If all you're doing is cleaning up your own property, my opinion is the cheaper the better. Quality grapples are made for daily use on equipment with 4 times the breakout force of your tractor. If the 1200 dollar bargain bin grapple i use at work hooked to a t590 bobcat hasnt even bent yet, you shouldnt have to worry about that 2150 causing damage. I'd personally go with an add a grapple and try to find a few extra forks so you can have 4 on at once so not so much debris falls through. The ability to rake with a grapple bucket doesnt work very well with a tractor anyway, so you'd be better off with a 3pt rake or a standard bucket for cleanup anyway. Don't worry too much about a lack of grease zerks on some models. The amount of cycles a grapple makes is so few that it doesnt matter if they're well lubricated. If anything, lube it after use to prevent it from seizing while sitting.

I went with a VERY HD grapple because I know what will happen to light duty implements out here. I'd say - give it a try and gain experience from use.

This is sort of my take. I'm not doing heavy duty land clearing, mainly cleanup on five acres of woods. I am a leg amputee, so tools and implements that save me steps are useful, especially in this instance, since wading around in downed tree limbs is one of the worst jobs to do on a prosthesis. The ability to chainsaw man small trees and cedar limbs, and drag the out to brush piles without constant on/off tractor excursions appeals to me.

Look at MTL attachments in Georgia. I have one, use it commercially. No issues. They make them with JD hookups. Very well made. VERY reasonable price wise.

Would've recommended looking at them, but they are 90% 'sold out' all the time, and I believe there's some customer service issues after that sale, but look them up and see.

Their website says that the "sold-out" is on their stock, and you basically call them direct, get added to their waiting list for the particular item, then they contact you when ready to ship.

The owner is a little cut and dry. I guess some folks had issues with him when they couldn't manipulate him. I had zero issues with him. He kept his word and delivered. I've abused the product commercially for two years with ZERO issues.
