I was looking at getting the 48" LW Titan Root Grapple and was curious if any owners have had any issue with this attachment. I think it is priced right ($920) and was also considering the 50" EA Grapple ($1,395) but for its price I could almost get the Titan and a set of forks for the same money. Again anyone had any issues with the Titan aka palletforks grapple.

Thanks

I have had mine for about 8 months.... the only issue I have had so far is they dont lock tightly onto my quick attach. Easily fixable - I just havent bothered yet.

I would have likely held out for the EA grapple - had I known one was coming. That would have been mostly based on the reviews of the EA grapple.

I will say that I am not happy with how the Titan grapple closes top tine to bottom tine. They dont meet, and make it difficult to pick things up with it.

Really its hard to say in the end, as my Titan is the only grapple I have ever used.

As to quality of build - it is top notch, as with the 2 other items I have bought from them. I suspect the slop in the quick attach has more to do with making it truly universal than anything. All 3 items from them are like that.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed another post and have been following it also. I may go with the EA also. Just seems like a big gap in price.

Does the Titan price include shipping?

Sometimes you are better off in the long run, paying more for quality!

Titan is in Collierville in Shelby County.

They cut you a break if you pick it up. You can check them out in person too before you commit.

Titan, as in palletforks.com?

I bought their 72" grapple - free shipping.

I did manage to pull it loose from the quick attach pins one time. It may have been my fault as I was using it to pull some rather heavy debris - but it has been a common complaint. Without a welder to add some support, I'll just have to live with the issue for now. Perhaps my biggest problem is that it is very heavy and without rear ballast you can easily get the rear of your tractor off the ground.

As for the tines not touching top to bottom, I see this as a pro/con. Yes, you can't use the grapple like a set of fingers. But, it seems to me this design makes for a tighter grip on your load.

Overall, I'm happy with my grapple and am constructing a 1000lb ballast to make things more user friendly :)

Not your fault. If the attachment plate is made right, there is no way it will come off, unless something bends or breaks.

I pulled this one loose at the bottom by putting too much down curl pressure on it. The plate is thin and the slots had stretched and worn over many years of use.

When it popped off, it bent the bottom plate at the latch pin slots.

On this light weight fork frame, it came off at the top when I picked up too much weight and it bent the 1/4" thick plate.

I put a straight edge on it so you can see where it bent. Also notice that it is too wide.

I got mine back in august. It's the 60 inch version. Ive been using it for removing lots of palmettos from my property that are clumped all together. Only issue I've had is that's it's a little on the heavy side. But the abuse it's been taken, it hasn't bent or broken yet.

I bought mine from titan and did pick it up myself. it is well built and heavy. it seems to latch very well and I have moved a bunch of very large fallen trees from my farm. I don't like the way it opens though, just 24" of opening. they did give me $100 off for picking it up myself so it was a real bargain.
