Re: TN65 - what comes with the electro-hydro shutt

I put in my order for a TN65 yesterday, and it should be ready in a couple of months. Unfortunately the dealer didn't have anything on the lot that fit my needs, so I had to go the ordering route. Here's what's coming:
- TN65 with 16x16 Power Shuttle trans
- R4 Tires
- 32LA loader with mech. self leveling and 84" HD bucket w/ quick attach.
- 84" heavy duty box scraper

I'm also going to put a Bradco 609 with subframe on it.

I can't wait until it's all here - there's lots of work to get done.

Schweeeetttt!

and your first job is to post pictures. I don't think I have seen any pics of TNs with backhoes.

That will be an interesting thing to see. Bradco has a special set-up for the TN series and it is supposed to be incredible. The dealer had to do some digging to get the details, but came back telling me that this setup would be about as close to a true TLB as you can get. I can't wait!

Re: TN65 - what comes with the electro-hydro shutt

Good work, You'll love it. I'll be interested to see how a subframe works on a TN. My Woods 1050 backhoe is a 3 pt hitch made up of a whole bunch of stiff metal. It has worked fine. Like I've said many times before, compacts need subframes but the ag size machines are okay with rigid 3 pt hitches, not that I wouldn't have gotten a subframe if I could have found one that went on and off easily. Having had 3 subframes on smaller tractors I had enough fun putting them on. Can't wait to see the pictures of your new machine. Love to see the details of the subframe. I have the same loader as you do.

Enjoy

Andy

Re: TN65 - what comes with the electro-hydro shutt

The subframe apparently works really well with the 32LA, and I think it was designed specifically around that mount. I have yet to see it, but it's gotta be pretty stout. The people at Bradco said that they did have a 3-point mounted system earlier, but it caused some problems so they developed the sub-frame. It's hard to believe that anything would cause problems with the 3-point on a TN, but I guess it did.

The only thing that keeps nagging me about this purchase is the decision to go with the TN65 rather than the TN75. I just couldn't rationalize the extra cash for the extra HP with the kind of work I'll be doing. But, more power is always better in my mind. We'll see what happens...

Hi guys- I know this is an old thread, but I'm looking at a TN75S with Power Shuttle. Can someone explain to me the difference between a mechanical shuttle, hydraulic shuttle and a power shuttle? Thanks,

Kelly

The standard shuttle requires the clutch be manually operated (by foot).

The power shuttle is electronic. The clutch can be used in the typical fashion (every change of the shuttle transmission -- forward or backwards). Or, after starting (you must press the clutch peddle down to start it), you can use it to change direction. To add to the conversation, this is a 'dual clutch' system, not a true shuttle transmission (not gears getting changed, but engaging different sides of the clutch, IIRC). NOT the same as a snow blower, but the end effect is the same. The hydraulic system does the work, the switches and potentiometers (in the clutch pedal) feed the computer, the computer controls the hydraulics. There are also several position and pressure switches/sensors in the system. By the way, the clutch has a strong spring to make you think it is a conventional clutch. The end of the peddle is attached to a potentiometer (variable resistor).

Some power shuttle clutch work must be done using a computer, as some things must be reset or adjusted that way. It is good to know who in your area will be able to service your tractor on those special occasions. Don't go just by the sign. A Deere dealer close to me used to be a New Holland dealer (it has been over 10 years ago now, I think). They still have a parts and service contract with NH, but you will not see a dealership sign to that affect. So ask your area dealers, or even contact NH for dealers that have service arrangements.

Cab tractors (or those that are stored under a roof) generally have less problems due to the wiring not being exposed to moisture.

You can find a number of posts relating to troubleshooting these around here, especially the flashing trouble codes (on the dash). Be wary of buying one that is flashing codes. Having said that, mine has flashed codes for a couple of years now (which started back up after a service trip for a switch/pressure sensor replacement and computer reset). And I wouldn't feel at all worried about selling it this way.
