I bought my TN75S, my other current tractor a Ford (NH) 2120 and my former Ford 1710 and Ford 8N's all from Kahn Tractor <
http://www.kahntractor.com> in N. Franklin, Ct. They deliver all over New England. I have found them very fair in all my dealings with them and they have never let me down when I need a repair. Even though my machines are now a "hobby" for me, I grew up on a nursery and do "push" my machines quite hard (I don't beat on them but I do use them up to their design limits)- Recently I lifted on my quick attach forks, one end of a 8400lb. 40 ' carge container- and found the limit of what a TN75S can lift. I "love" the TN75S, even though I've had a couple of problems- I lost the computer (part of the dashboard) early on which caused a bunch of funky things to occur. Kahn had a new one overnighted in, picked up my machine (40 miles from their shop) fixed it , did the 50 hour sesrvice and had it back at my "farm" in 3 days.
I DO NOT buy on price. I buy on service, but Kahn always gives me a fair price also. If I buy an implement and after a couple of uses, it turns out not to be exactly what I want, it just goers back and I get credit toward something that will better suit my needs.
Saving even a couple of thousand dollars, while it may sound like a lot going in- is not much when you look at the total cost of ownership over the life of a machine. My 2120 is now 13 years old and still works like a champ (if you're not familiar a 2120 is, it is stilll a current model and was the top of the compact tractor line before the Boomers). The 45 Boomer has slightly more horse power, but not as strong a frame and lift capacity of the 2120. From what I hear, the 2120 is one of Ford/New Holland's most popular models, and will be replaced this year, by a new high end series of Boomers, based some what on the 2120 frame.
The TN75S is not quite like buying a Boomer class tractor. There are many more options not the least of which is somethink like 14 different tire combinations. If you are considering the TN series of tractors, I will be more than happy to share with you some of what I went through in making my "options decisions".
I primarly bought the TN, because I needed a larger backhoe, more lift capacity and the ability to "push" more. I was also tired of taking off the frame mount hoe on the 2120 just to put a rake or box scraper on the 3 point hitch of the 2120. Both tractors share "bobcat" type front loader quick attaches so that I can share, forks, buckes, etc. The TN has Bobcat type hydraulic connections on the loader so that hydraulic skid steer atachments can also be used. The 2120 is primarly used to "pull" implements, cut brush, winch and chip. I also use the TH's backhoe to "load" material into the 2120's front bucket or rock fork. I have found that working by myself, I can get about 5 times more work done in a day, than I could do with only one tractor (and I not always trying to get the wrong implement to do a job that it was not designed for).
My next purchase, will be Cat I/II 3 point quick attach of the triangle type. I have tried the "normal type" and I have too many older implement that don't conform to the the new 3 point hitch standards and thus don't mate.
If anyone has experience with Freedom <
http://www.freedomhitch.com/>, Bubco (Triangle) <
http://www.bubco.com/QuickHitches.asp>, Jiffy Hitch <
http://jiffyhitchsystems.com/> or others, I would appreciate your thoughts.
I am also looking to see if anybody has any information on where these products can be obtained, other than direct from the manufacturer.
I was feeling kind of lonely as it didn't see too many TN owners on the board, and am glad to find others who either own or are interested in this class of tractor. I'd be interested in where you folks live. If you get near northern Conn wher my machine lives, i'd be more than happy to let you see it in action.
BTW- My son has nicknamed them "Baby" and the "Beast"- he's 15 and loves to use the Beast. My 13 year old uses Baby and is not ready to move up- what a difference 2 years makes- I've been using tractors for about 40 years, and I guess you could call them my "adult big boy toys"- also as a throw back to my child hood, I am looking for a decent condition Ford 8N to restore.
Sorry for the rambling-
Andy
