BX22
So I was looking at the hydraulic schematic for the BX22 and it looks to me like the BH valve is Open Center (1 line in, 1 line out). From the output of the BH valve, the juice flows to what looks to be the 3PH valve (shows a s.a. cylinder, and that's the only one I can think of on the tractor).

When the 3PH valve is neutral, the flow returns to the tank. When raising the 3PH, the flow from the BH is diverted to the 3PH cylinder, when lowering the 3PH both the flow from the BH and the 3PH cylinder are routed to the tank.

Does this mean I can use an open center valve for rear remotes? It's a closed system, so any fluid that makes it to the BH/Remote valves is going through the 3PH before hitting the tank right? So, to me, it seems that I wouldn't lose 3PH functionality..

Can somebody confirm that I'm nuts, or surprise me and tell me I'm making sense..?

Thanks.
Jeff

Your system is Open Center, ALL valve added must be Open/Tandem Center valves.

Lots of info if you search;)

Sorry, I guess I didn't use the correct terminology.

I was thinking more along the lines of not needing power beyond for my remotes. Yes, the system is open center. When I search on the subject of remotes, it seems that all the threads talk about needing remotes with power beyond for the BX. But I don't see a reason for it, at least not for the BX22.

Is there any reason for needing power beyond for remotes in this system if I plumb the remote valve in series, or in place of, the BH valve?

Thanks again.

It is best to use the PB if at all possible. It keeps excess pressure off of the OUT port when the downstream valve (the 3PH in your case) in activated. You just need to find a return-to-tank plug in the tranny, or you can Tee into the one from the FEL valve.

But in reality...when you backhoe is connected there is no PB and separate return. I would feel comfortable either way if it was my machine.

Thanks again Kenny.

I think I'll skip the PB. It is simple and clean that way. The down stream stuff was already designed to take the load, so it should cause no harm. And as they say, if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Thanks for the reassurance.
