I finished my Tnt last week, and used it a lot last weekend. It worked well.

But... I went to use my post hole digger yesterday... The Top link is removed when the post digger is installed. For a short term solution, I bungee corded it to my ROPS.

How are others handling this? I thought quick connects might be nice. However, if they are used, do you tie them together when the top link is off, or use a plug, or???

any other idea's?

Robert,
Is there room to move the top link down to the bottom hole on the tractor and them tie it off to one side?

Robert, I'm not sure I have a complete mental picture of what your TNT setup is like. On mine, when I hook up the post hole digger, I remove the "top" hydraulic cylinder and disconnect the hoses from it. The cylinders have the male end which don't need to be coupled together because the males are self closing by a ball check valve. The two hoses on the tractor are female which also are self closing. If I understand your question, is it that your hoses from the tractor do not have quick connectors which would mean your cylinder does not either? If so I would highly recommend you get some. They are not that expensive and designed for this type of implement swap. Hope I made sense. Rat...
P.S. Hows the weather a few miles south of me today?

Von,
That may be possible. I'll look tonite. My first thought was to completely get it out of the way. Tieing it off like that would certianly be better than my temporary bungee cord method /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Robert,
I just looked at my B8200 as it is sitting right out in front of my shop right now. There are 3 different holes to use on the tractor for the top link. You should be able to move it down to one of the lower holes, and then tie it off to the underside of the post hole digger tube. Just use your bungee cord to hold it to the tube.

Rat,
Do you have more info on those disconnects? What you described is what I would like. For now(this weekend), I will try Von's idea of using my extra top link holes and tying it out of the way... But, I would like to look in to those disco's next week.

Also, what happens if you bump you hydraulic lever while it's disconnected? The check ball holds all the pressure? It won't hurt the system?

Weather's nice! It's sunny and warm, mid 70's. It's tough being in this big building right now!

Robert, the check balls not only hold the pressure but they hold out dirt from getting into the system. The fittings I have are made by Pioneer. Your valve bypass will take care of you accindently trying to use disconnected hoses. You can get most anything over here by my place at Gold Country Kubota. Just take Highway 49 out of Placerville take the long winding road through Coloma, Lotus and Cool to Auburn and get on Ophir Rd. You want to see some tractors, they have them. Last time I was there they had 6 L48's and 6 more on order.

RobertN, if I were you, I'd put the quick couplers on. I didn't because I don't have a post hole digger and didn't foresee ever removing the hydraulic top link (may change my mind and add them someday and that's simple). And you don't need to tie the two ends together when you unplug because you're using an open centered valve that lets the fluid flow through the valve. You've probably read some of the messages about tying the two ends together from some folks using hydraulic lines to things like log splitters and backhoes that have their own valves. That's another entirely different situation.

Cool, thanks!

My tractor guy Brian(Sierra Tractor, Shingle Springs) worked at Gold Country for a long time. I bought my B8200 there, I guess three years ago now. In fact, I towed it home the way you mentioned /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif The canyon on 49 is fun with a longbed xcab and a tandem trailer /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Robert, for the amount of time I use the post hole digger, I don't see that it's worth much effort beyond your bungee method to stow the top link. That's exactly what I do. So far, I haven't seen any other application beyond the post hole digger that requires removal of the hydraulic top link. Therefore, for me, it isn't worth the effort to put on the quick disconnects for the minimal return on investment. I'm not referring to dollars, but time.

By the way, I'm pretty familiar with your area as I have relatives there, all in the school system. They live in Cool. I've checked out the "tractor stores" including the ones you mentioned. Great area to live in!
